Steve Dean has written seven #1 hits in his storied career including 2007’s most played song “Watching You” for Rodney Atkins. “Round About Way” for George Strait, “Walk On” for Reba McEntire, “Southern Star” for Alabama, “It Takes A Little Rain” for The Oak Ridge Boys, and “Hearts Aren’t Made To Break” for Lee Greenwood round out the other five. He was raised in Little Rock Arkansas on a steady diet of The Beatles, Byrds and Eagles, with early Buck Owens, Rodger Miller and Johnny Cash influences as well. After earning a degree in advertising, he moved to Nashville to pursue his songwriting dreams. He also spent several years as a touring artist in a duo called “James/Dean”. Steve has also written hit songs for Dierks Bentley, Joe Nichols, The Roys, LoCash Cowboys, Craig Morgan, John Michael Montgomery and LeAnn Womack. To date, he has earned 10 BMI songwriting awards.
